We got together in 2009. Generally, the “bad happens” in our life are included at the songs’ lyrics. But also we’re inspired by everything in life deserves to be written as lyrics. We have many plans but firstly we’re gonna shoot a performance video for an acoustic song before July.

We like to create music, sometimes in a crowded street, sometimes near the sea, in the forest etc.. The atmosphere and the mood we are in present us the sounds, we grab what is on the air, put our soul in it and convert it to a new form. We do like to nurture our music (and our soul too) basically from nature and the city. Especially when we travel, the soundscape that we interact with is really specifying the musical way we lead. For example, while listening to a river or the steps on the snow, we take out our melodica/cordless synth/ or guitar, sing on it and let the music flow… Sometimes we do record and use it for composing later too. Nu Park takes its name from the park in which we spent our childhood (Koşuyolu Park). So our music represents the union of the new, the modern, the technological; with the emotional, the natural and the nude. In Nu Park’s music, electronic elements are used to enhance the emotional elements. Our performances are enriched by improvisations and theatrical shows too.
In the long term, we are aiming to have an international audience, to appear more in international festivals, to expand our fan base, locally and internationally. Perfection of the theatrical elements, creating an ever evolving show in which new and surprising elements are introduced constantly. We also want to write more songs and keep it fresh. And while doing all these, we want our main focus to be revealing our creative energy and sharing this experience with other people.

I’ve lived my life as a jack of all trades, master of none. I’m generally pretty shy about sharing most of my creative endeavors, but the clothing we choose to wear is something everyone has to see anyway, so I started blogging as a way to display that aspect of expression. The story really started last year, we’d always been big fans of Jacque Costeau and loved his little red hat so Jessie knit a couple for us both. We started to get compliments from all our friends and Jessie began her addiction to knitting. We enrolled my mother as well and she became part of the hat knitting team too.
When we started to produce to sell we came up with the idea to be environmentally aware within our product, hence the reason we chose Aplaca and to donate a portion of our profits to environment/oceanic based charities. We have a strong connection to the sea, when we’re not knitting we’re surfing. It’s very important for us to give a little back. I still don’t think enough businesses do that these days but with mega companies like Patagonia leading the way it feels like you can make a difference no matter how big or small you are.
We’re inspired by everything and everybody around us, Brooklyn is a great mecca for creativity and choosing your own path.
We love to get people involved. We’ve made a little limited addition book-zine that comes with our hats. Our plan is to commission a different photographer for each book-zine project that we feel ties in with our aesthetic/interests. We print 150 numbered additions and then move on to a new one. As well as promoting ourselves it allows for others to show there their work. There’s a massive gene pool of creativity out there and our aim is to channel some of it through Lynn and Lawrence and have a bit of fun while we do it.
If we were to pick out our main inspirations I’d say, the sea, Cousteau, Patagonia, hand made products, the great outdoors, Shackleton, the past, and each other.

Storyteller / Traveller
Stories are like boats sailing the seas of our comprehension, taking us places we’re not entirely sure we want to go. Stories are what makes the world go round. All of us are writing the story of our lives every day; as a storyteller I tell tales that are true even though they never happened.
There’s something profoundly reassuring that even in the 21st century people come to listen to a storyteller with nothing other than a voice and an imagination to hold their attention.

When making films we like to draw from the emotions we feel as we do everyday activities. We try to make things seem a little less ordinary. We are constantly inspired by what we observe everyday, whether it’s the clothes people wear or the shadows of melting snow on the windshield of our car. We are always interested in trying to use the film medium in a way that can inspire people to enjoy life and pursue their dreams.

To achieve that we avoid post processing and using flash. At the moment we start with several new projects using 6x6 medium format and Polaroid as well.

I study art history at college. I like all art but in particular; contemporary art and photography. I started taking photos when I was young. First of all, I took photographs of landscapes or friends when I was on holidays, with a disposable camera. Now I use an old camera: Canon T50 and sometimes a Holga and a polaroid (but it’s so expensive!). I like to take desert landscapes but also people, especially girls. I try to show the beauty of the body and capture melancholic moments!

My music life started when I was 17 just for having fun with myself, then I started to play and sing in a more professional way in bars with my first music-band. After I got bored, I created a solo project: bikini which was mostly based on compositions. When I won the competition which was held by GAP; my single album was released thanks to Demir Demirkan. I’ve not inspired from only one music type, rather I prefer to listen to all.
